Job Summary
Capital Engineering Consultancy LLC is seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer to join our team in Al Ain, UAE. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of relevant civil engineering experience, including prior experience in an engineering consultancy and exposure to industrial and commercial building projects in the UAE.
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring construction activities, coordinating with contractors and project stakeholders, ensuring compliance with approved drawings and specifications, and supporting the successful delivery of projects in accordance with quality, safety, and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Supervision: Monitor and supervise civil construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, contractual requirements, and project schedules.
- Engineering Consultancy: Coordinate with the Resident Engineer, Project Manager, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Drawing and Specification Review: Review architectural, structural, and civil drawings, specifications, method statements, and material submittals to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Site Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections to monitor ongoing civil works, verify workmanship, and ensure that construction activities comply with approved designs and applicable standards.
- Industrial and Commercial Buildings: Oversee civil and structural works related to industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and associated infrastructure.
- Quality Control: Ensure that construction activities meet the required quality standards, approved inspection and test plans, and project specifications.
- Technical Coordination: Identify site-related technical issues, coordinate with relevant engineering disciplines, and facilitate timely resolution of design and construction discrepancies.
- Contractor Coordination: Monitor contractors' performance, review work progress, and coordinate with site teams to ensure that project activities are completed as planned.
- Material and Work Approvals: Review and coordinate material submittals, technical submissions, inspection requests, and other project documentation in accordance with established approval procedures.
- Progress Monitoring: Track construction progress against approved project schedules, identify potential delays, and report concerns to the Project Manager or Resident Engineer.
- Technical Documentation: Review and maintain site inspection reports, daily progress reports, technical correspondence, non-conformance reports, and other relevant project records.
- Non-Conformance Management: Identify construction defects, deviations, and non-compliant works, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions with contractors.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Monitor site activities to ensure adherence to applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements, and report unsafe practices to the responsible personnel.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Coordinate with structural, architectural, MEP, infrastructure, and other project teams to resolve interface issues and minimize construction conflicts.
- Project Reporting and Handover: Prepare progress updates, participate in coordination meetings, support snagging and defect inspections, and assist with final inspections and project handover documentation.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- Prior experience working with an engineering consultancy in the UAE or GCC is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in industrial and commercial building construction projects.
- Good understanding of civil and structural drawings, construction specifications, and applicable building standards.
- Knowledge of construction supervision, quality control procedures, site inspections, and technical documentation.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, consultants, clients, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Good communication, reporting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with relevant engineering software and project documentation systems.
- Valid UAE Driving Licence is mandatory.
- Candidates who can join immediately or within a short notice period will be preferred.
