Full Stack Developer - AI

About us:
Greenfield Marine Technologies builds AI software for shipping fleets. Our products, Shiparc.AI (maritime HSE and audits) and VoyageIQ.AI (fleet operations and daily vessel reporting), are used by crews at sea and teams on shore.

The Role:

You will build and ship features end to end across both products, from database to UI, with a strong focus on practical, reliable AI features.

What you will do:

• Build features in Next.js and TypeScript, with APIs in Node.js and Express.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas and write efficient queries (Prisma ORM).
• Build AI features with the OpenAI API: report review, summaries, translation, document Q&A, chat and voice assistants.
• Build retrieval (RAG) with embeddings and pgvector; use structured outputs and tool calling.
• Test and monitor AI quality, cost and latency: evaluation sets, logging, usage caps and fallbacks.
• Write secure code: authentication (incl. SSO), role-based access and strict customer data separation.
• Deploy and run on AWS with CI/CD; write tests and take part in code reviews.
• Build for ships with slow or no internet (offline storage and sync)

Requirements:

• 2–3 years of full stack development.
• Strong HTML, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Next.js and React in production.
• Node.js and Express; REST API design.
• PostgreSQL: schema design, indexing, query tuning.
• AWS: EC2, S3, RDS, IAM; SES or Cognito a plus.CI/CD (GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline/CodeDeploy) and Git with pull-request reviews.
• Hands-on OpenAI API experience in a shipped product: prompt design, structured outputs, function/tool calling, embeddings.
• Understanding of AI risks: hallucination, prompt injection, data privacy, and token cost control.
• Automated testing (unit and API, e.g. Jest, Playwright).
• Clear written and spoken English.

Nice to have:

• RAG frameworks or vector databases (pgvector, LangChain, LlamaIndex).
• AI agents or voice AI (e.g. LiveKit, speech-to-text, text-to-speech).
• LLM evaluation tools (e.g. Promptfoo) and AI observability.
• Mobile app development with React Native (iOS and Android).
• Offline-first apps (IndexedDB, service workers, local storage and sync).
• Docker, PM2, Redis or job queues.
• Security basics: OWASP Top 10, password hashing, SSO (OAuth/OIDC).
• Maritime, HSE or SaaS B2B experience.
