Assistant Buyer

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Buyer in researching and selecting from home and abroad, the best quality merchandise suppliers have to offer at the best price to maximize sales and profit margins.
• In conjunction with the Buyer, control the selection of merchandise for the Sales within the agreed markdown and to reach the agreed stock level.
• Analyze weekly sales and action all necessary transfers, reorders, and stock swaps.
• Enter the orders onto the system once the buyers return from buying trips and ensure minimum discrepancies.
• Pay regular visits to the warehouse to resolve any shipment discrepancies and delays, and liaise with the suppliers in case of any variance/damage to prompt immediate corrective action.
• Coordinate with sales personnel to make certain range meets customer demand.
• Assist buyer to foster strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable contracts and terms.
• Assist buyer to prepare purchase order, to get any training & marketing materials from the brand, and the extent of their involvement in advertising and promotions.
• Place re-orders as applicable in consultation with buyers and communicate relevant information to all relevant parties in planning and supply chain.
• Maintain an accurate database of vendor agreements and forward completed vendor agreements to Merchandise Planning.
• Liaise with marketing to prepare promotional events for the season
• Work with merchandising and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of goods
• Consolidate buying feedback reports and provide buyers with reports and recommendations per brand portfolio.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, or other related fields.
• 3-4 years of proven experience as assistant buyer in a retail environment (Beauty and skin-care).
• Ability to identify priorities and organize and plan activities to ensure proper and timely.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Strong grasp of procurement principles and industry best practices.
