Duties/Responsibilities
- Construct furniture frames and complete furniture pieces according to blueprints, technical drawings, and design specifications.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials with precision.
- Operate woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Sand, polish, and apply finishes to furniture, ensuring high-quality appearance and durability.
- Install furniture hardware, including hinges, drawer slides, handles, locks, and other fittings.
- Inspect, repair, and refurbish furniture to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
- Coordinate with designers and supervisors, guide junior carpenters, and ensure work is completed on time while adhering to safety standards.
Requirements and skills
- Minimum 15 years of experience in furniture making and carpentry.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and design plans.
- Proficiency in operating woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools.
- Strong craftsmanship, precision, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of wood types, materials, furniture construction techniques, and finishing methods.
- Ability to install furniture hardware, perform repairs, and ensure high-quality finishing.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to supervise junior carpenters, and commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
