About Naoero Medical Centre
Naoero Medical Centre (NMC) is the government hospital and national referral hospital of Nauru, a small island nation in the South Pacific. We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Neonatologist / Pediatrician to join our medical team and provide high-quality healthcare services to newborns, infants, and children.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care for newborns, infants, children, and adolescents.
- Diagnose and manage neonatal and pediatric medical conditions, including emergency cases.
- Assess and manage premature and critically ill newborns, including neonatal resuscitation when required.
- Conduct routine pediatric examinations, monitor growth and development, and provide preventive healthcare.
- Manage neonatal and pediatric emergencies and coordinate referrals when necessary.
- Collaborate with nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care.
- Provide guidance and support to parents and caregivers regarding newborn and child health.
- Maintain accurate medical records and comply with hospital policies and clinical protocols.
- Participate in clinical meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and medical staff training.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification or specialist training in Neonatology, Pediatrics, or Child Health.
- Valid medical license and eligibility for medical registration in Nauru.
- Relevant clinical experience in neonatal and/or pediatric care.
- Experience managing neonatal emergencies, premature infants, and pediatric acute care is an advantage.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment.
