Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Manager to oversee and implement infection prevention and control practices within our healthcare facility in Naoero (Nauru).

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and regularly review infection prevention and control policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Monitor healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and coordinate infection surveillance, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Conduct regular infection control audits and inspections across clinical and non-clinical departments.
• Monitor compliance with hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE), aseptic techniques, and standard and transmission-based precautions.
• Investigate infection outbreaks, identify potential sources, and coordinate appropriate containment and control measures.
• Ensure appropriate sterilization, disinfection, and decontamination practices in collaboration with relevant departments.
• Oversee safe healthcare waste management, environmental cleaning, and equipment decontamination practices.
• Work closely with nursing, medical, laboratory, housekeeping, and facility management teams to improve infection control standards.
• Develop and deliver infection prevention training and awareness sessions for healthcare staff.
• Maintain accurate infection control records, audit reports, surveillance data, and incident documentation.
• Review infection-related incidents and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives in collaboration with medical and pharmacy teams.
• Monitor compliance with applicable national regulations, hospital policies, and recognized infection prevention standards.
• Prepare regular reports for hospital management and recommend improvements based on audit findings and surveillance trends.

Requirements:

• Minimum 7+ years of relevant healthcare experience along with lead or supervisory in infection prevention and control, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or another relevant healthcare qualification.
• Current professional registration or licence in the candidate's home country, where applicable.
• Demonstrated experience in hospital infection control, infection surveillance, outbreak investigation, and clinical audits.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare-associated infections, hand hygiene, isolation precautions, sterilization, disinfection, and waste management.
• Experience developing and implementing infection prevention policies and staff training programmes.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive compliance with infection control standards.
• Strong analytical, reporting, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with clinical and non-clinical departments.
• Willingness to relocate to Naoero (Nauru).

Preferred Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification or specialized training in Infection Prevention and Control.
• Certification in infection prevention and control, such as CIC, where applicable.
• Experience managing IPC programmes in a multispecialty hospital.
