General Accountant – UAE Tax & Compliance

Job Description: Accountant (UAE Compliance)

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compliant Accountant to manage our day-to-day financial operations, banking workflows, payroll, and month-end closing processes using Xero. The ideal candidate will ensure full alignment with UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) regulations, including VAT, Corporate Tax, and upcoming UAE E-Invoicing mandates.

Key Responsibilities

• General Accounting & Month-End Closing
• Post daily journal, receipt, and payment vouchers into Xero with complete supporting documentation.
• Reconcile internal ERP transaction data against Xero to maintain ledger accuracy.
• Perform month-end ledger closing, record accruals/prepayments, and prepare monthly balance sheet/P&L statements.
• UAE Tax Compliance & E-Invoicing
• Ensure full operational readiness and compliance with UAE E-Invoicing requirements (generation, validation, and exchange via compliant platforms).
• Prepare and submit timely, accurate periodic VAT returns in line with FTA regulations.
• Maintain audit-ready FTA tax records, invoices, and supporting financial documentation.
• Support annual Corporate Tax calculations, filing preparation, and compliance record-keeping.
• Banking & Reconciliations
• Execute daily corporate online payments, vendor transfers, and track outstanding transactions.
• Process monthly payroll using Wages Protection System (WPS) portals and prepare salary reconciliations.
• Perform monthly reconciliations for all bank accounts, corporate credit cards, and fuel cards.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: 4 to 5 years of hands-on general accounting experience within the UAE.
• Software & Systems: Proficiency in Xero,and UAE corporate banking/WPS portals.
• Tax Expertise: Strong working knowledge of UAE FTA laws, VAT submission, Corporate Tax regulations, and E-Invoicing frameworks.
• Skills: High accuracy in data entry, strong analytical skills, and clear professional communication.
