Senior Pipeline Draughstman

Job Title: Senior Pipeline Draughtsman – Water Infrastructure

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare pipeline layouts, longitudinal profiles, typical sections and detailed shop drawings, showing chainages, coordinates, ground and pipe levels, cover depths, fittings and utility crossings.

- Prepare coordinated drawings for valve chambers, washouts, air valves, flow meters, control valves and tie-in connections, including plans, sections, equipment arrangements and construction details.

- Incorporate approved restrained-joint lengths, thrust restraint details and pipe manufacturer requirements into the drawings.

- Prepare road and utility crossing details, protection arrangements, trench sections and reinstatement drawings based on approved designs.

- Coordinate pipeline and chamber drawings with civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation and fibre-optic requirements.

- Process survey data and incorporate verified existing utilities, trial-pit findings and site measurements.

- Prepare drawing packages for submission to EtihadWE and relevant authorities through the Engineering Department and Document Controller.

- Revise drawings in response to review comments and maintain clear revision records and drawing status.

- Extract material quantities and prepare pipe and fitting schedules for engineering verification.

- Support site teams with setting-out information and approved drawing details, and refer discrepancies to the responsible engineer.

- Prepare progressive redline and as-built drawings, incorporating verified field records and supporting GIS deliverables.

- Follow project CAD standards, numbering conventions, submission requirements and document-control procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Drafting.

- Minimum 7 years of relevant drafting experience, including at least 3 years on UAE water pipeline or infrastructure projects.

- Demonstrated experience preparing shop drawings for large-diameter DI pipelines and associated RCC chambers.

- Previous EtihadWE or comparable UAE water authority project experience is preferred.

- Experience supporting drawing submissions, closing review comments and preparing as-built documentation.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D, particularly alignments, surfaces, profiles and sections.

- Ability to interpret survey coordinates, benchmarks, longitudinal profiles, engineering designs and supplier drawings.

- Practical knowledge of DI pipes, fittings, flanged connections, dismantling joints, restrained joints and valve arrangements.

- Ability to coordinate chamber dimensions, pipe penetrations, equipment clearances and maintenance access.

- Competence in Excel for coordinate lists, drawing registers and material schedules.

- Familiarity with GIS data preparation and infrastructure drawing standards is preferred.

- Good written and spoken English and effective coordination with engineers, surveyors and site teams.

Responsibility Limits

The Draughtsman shall work under engineering supervision. Hydraulic calculations, structural design, pressure-class selection and changes to approved designs shall remain subject to review and approval by the responsible engineers.

Selection Assessment

Candidates should provide relevant drawing samples and complete a practical AutoCAD/Civil 3D assessment covering a pipeline plan and profile, a valve chamber detail, and incorporation of review comments.

Location: Fujairah, UAE, with office and site coordination as required.
