Factory Manager

Palm Living Interiors are seeking an experienced and results-driven Factory Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our interior design and fit-out factory. The ideal candidate MUST have a strong background in joinery, bespoke furniture manufacturing, interior finishes, and fit-out production, with proven experience managing factory operations, production teams, quality control, and project delivery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient production, maintaining high-quality standards, optimizing resources, controlling costs, and delivering projects according to approved drawings, specifications, and agreed timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all factory operations, including joinery, carpentry, furniture manufacturing, cabinetry, and other interior fit-out production activities.
• Develop production plans and schedules in line with project requirements and delivery deadlines.
• Manage daily workloads, allocate manpower, and ensure optimal utilization of machinery, equipment, and materials.
• Monitor production progress and implement corrective measures to prevent delays.
• Coordinate with the design, technical, procurement, project management, and site installation teams.

Technical Drawings & Production Coordination

• Review approved shop drawings, material specifications, and production details before manufacturing begins.
• Ensure all products are manufactured according to approved drawings, samples, specifications, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with technical design and drafting teams to resolve drawing discrepancies and production challenges.
• Ensure proper coordination between factory production and on-site installation requirements.

Quality Control & Standards

• Establish and maintain quality-control procedures throughout the manufacturing process.
• Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with approved designs, dimensions, materials, and finishing requirements.
• Minimize production defects, material wastage, rework, and rejected items.
• Ensure consistent workmanship and high-quality finishes across all projects.

Cost & Resource Management

• Monitor production costs, labor expenses, material consumption, and factory overheads.
• Implement measures to improve productivity and reduce wastage.
• Manage inventory, raw materials, tools, and equipment in coordination with the procurement and store teams.
• Ensure efficient use of resources while maintaining quality and delivery standards.

Team Leadership & Workforce Management

• Lead, supervise, and motivate production supervisors, carpenters, joiners, machine operators, painters, polishers, and other factory personnel.
• Set performance targets and monitor productivity across departments.
• Identify training requirements and improve workforce skills and efficiency.
• Promote accountability, teamwork, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Health, Safety & Maintenance

• Ensure compliance with factory safety regulations and company HSE policies.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and safe working conditions across all production areas.
• Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained through preventive maintenance programs.
• Identify operational risks and implement measures to prevent accidents and production interruptions.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Prepare regular reports on production output, project progress, quality issues, manpower, and operational costs.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for production efficiency, quality, wastage, and on-time delivery.
• Identify opportunities to improve factory workflows, manufacturing processes, and operational performance.
• Ensure timely completion and dispatch of manufactured items to project sites.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered- would be a bonus but not essential
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in factory or production management, preferably in interior fit-out, joinery, or bespoke furniture manufacturing.
• Proven experience managing factory teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of joinery production, cabinetry, custom furniture, interior finishes, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings, material specifications, and production schedules.
• Experience in production planning, cost control, quality assurance, and inventory management.
• Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production planning or ERP systems.
• Knowledge of UAE workplace safety requirements and factory operations is an advantage.
